The Old Museum has been the site of cultural and educational facilities for over 110 years.
The building was constructed in 1891 for the Queensland National Agricultural and Industrial Association. Due to financial problems encountered by the Association, the State Government took over the building in 1897 and leased the concert hall to the Brisbane City Council until the Brisbane City Hall was completed in 1930. From 1891 to 1930, the Old Museum Concert Hall was the main venue for concerts in Brisbane, including recitals by Dame Nellie Melba and Ignaz Paderewski.
The Old Museum Concert Hall and rehearsal spaces are available for hire. Enquiries should be directed to the Venue Manager. Please note weddings are not allowed at the Old Museum
If you can provide a 'piece of ground' we can build you a temporary venue from the floor up. We have catered for events over pools, on a beach, a tennis court, aboard a yacht or even a paddock.
We have travelled from Noosa to Byron and Roma to Stradbroke Island to cater for an array of special occasions.
The beauty of a marquee is that it makes an outdoor event to continue regardless of rain hail or shine. Whether a relaxed luncheon party for 15 of your closest friends in the backyard to a gala company incentive dinner for 1800 international guests we can help.
The Gallery is a single institution with two sites. Separated by a distance of only 150 metres door-to-door, the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) and the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) enjoy a close visual and physical connection.
QAG’s quiet elegance and GoMA’s dynamic modernism remain distinctive within their architectural genres yet complement each other gracefully. Each building offers an unforgettable backdrop for events featuring beautiful surrounds, functionality and privacy.
Rise to the occasion by holding your next corporate or private event in a setting of beauty, sophistication and culture.
