Event Planning

Behind every seamless corporate event is a production team making the invisible feel effortless. Audio that is crisp from the front row to the back. Lighting that flatters speakers and keeps the room focused. Screens that get read, not ignored.

Behind every seamless corporate event is a production team making the invisible feel effortless. Audio that is crisp from the front row to the back. Lighting that flatters speakers and keeps the room focused. Screens that get read, not ignored.

For 23 years, Select Audio Visual has been one of Brisbane’s most trusted corporate event production partners and we have had the privilege of working alongside them at many partner venues and large-scale corporate events.

This spotlight is a look into how they think, how they plan and what they believe really matters when you want an event to feel polished, confident and calm in the room.

Meet Select Audio Visual

For readers who don’t know you yet: Who is Select Audio Visual and what are you all about?

"At Select Audio Visual, we believe we are Brisbane’s corporate event production partner of choice! Brisbane-owned and operated for 23 years and counting, Select is known for our no-nonsense approach and exceptional client experiences. No legacy equipment, no attitude, just a tight-knit, committed team of fun-loving industry professionals firmly focused on excellence and seamless event outcomes across our venue and corporate client base."

What we love about this is the clarity. In the corporate world, “no nonsense” is not a vibe. It is a gift. When production is done well, the room simply works. People stay present. Content lands. Energy holds.

The Briefs They Love Most

What kinds of events do you and the team love most, and why?

"We love a challenge: a brief that takes us out of our comfort zone and forces us to think creatively and efficiently. Unorthodox environments & concepts challenge the team from inception to delivery, this way ensuring everyone continues to learn while honing their craft and having fun."

This is where great suppliers separate themselves. The best teams do not just repeat a template. They adapt. They problem-solve early. They bring solutions, not stress.

The Real Secret to a Room That Feels Right

You know the feeling. The lighting is flattering. The sound is clean. The visuals are readable. Guests are engaged without knowing why. That is not luck. That is preparation.

When a room “just feels right,” what did you do behind the scenes to make that happen?

"We forward plan, it’s really that simple! Rooms come together primarily for one reason, and that’s through detailed and thorough pre-production. Consistent client communication, site inspections, renders, and all critical elements that paint the picture long before a flight case is rolled into show."

"Painting the picture” and having a clear vision before event day is everything. When the picture is clear to everyone early on in the planning process, the show runs smoother, crews are calmer and clients get fewer surprises.

One Run Sheet Move That Changes Everything

If you are an EA, Office Manager, Event Coordinator, or Project Lead, this is the part to steal.

One thing clients can do in their run sheet that makes a huge difference to the guest experience?

"It’s essential that clients factor in sufficient rehearsal time, particularly when the event involves entertainment or is content-heavy. Rehearsal affords all presenters and performers the opportunity to release any tension, unwind, make last-minute changes, and settle into the environment with confidence well before doors open. This, in turn, contributes to seamless event outcomes, which ultimately benefit all guests."

Rehearsal time is not a luxury. It is a risk management tool that protects confidence in the room.

The “Three Kings” of Live Events

When budgets tighten or timelines compress, there is always a temptation to cut corners. Select Audio Visual are clear on what should never be compromised.

For Large Scale Events, what are the three AV decisions that most improve clarity and confidence, and what do you cut when time or budget is tight without hurting the experience?

"When staging live events, the ‘three kings” will always revolve around sightlines, audio and lighting. To hit the mark each time we step into show, it’s critical that audio is clear and consistent throughout the space, that all guests have clear sightlines regardless of seating plan, and that the stage, and therefore those who occupy it, are lit in a manner that defines both the presenter and the event. These decisions matter the most and should be considered non-negotiable. To compromise on just one of these decisions will result in a critically compromised outcome."

"Meeting a tight budget is sometimes a consideration. Ways to do so without compromising outcomes include removing excess or non-essentials. This might take the form of moving lights, haze, excessive staging, and theme elements. If you stick to the fundamentals and execute them well, the results always speak for themselves."

If you remember one thing from this blog, let it be this. Nail sightlines, audio, and lighting first. Everything else is additional sparkle.

A Brisbane Case Study We Loved

We asked Select to share a recent Brisbane event they loved, and their answer was immediate.

What is a recent Brisbane event you loved?: What was the brief, the constraint and how you nailed the execution?

"Hands down, the gong goes to launch night of The Glo House back in October 2025. Glitz, glamour, colour and just the most electric atmosphere in an ideal setting that hosted 350+ guests on a truly epic night. Given the fully transparent structure, consisting of floor-to-ceiling glass walls, audio within the space was always going to present a challenge. We overcame this by ‘flying’ all speakers on vertical truss lines spanning the length of the venue. The result? Consistent audio distribution across the entire floor, regardless of numbers present. When it comes to audio, if guests can’t hear, it’s game over."

That last line is painfully true. If guests cannot hear your presentation or speeches, did they even happen at all?

Their Calling Card

This is the part that makes long-term supplier relationships work. Gear is important. People are everything.

If you had to name your “Select Audio Visual calling card,” what would it be?

"Great question! We like to think our entire team are Human-Centric! Unlike some companies that focus solely on gear, our jam is building highly personal business relationships and acting as a seamless extension of your team."

Having a supplier like Select Audio Visual be that “extension of your team” should always be the goal when planning your corporate event and when it's done right, you'll never look at hiring just anybody ever again. These working relationships with your suppliers are what reduces friction on show day. It is what makes a high-pressure environment feel handled.

2026 Trends: What to Lean Into and What to Avoid

Trends are everywhere. Not all of them help.

What is an AV/lighting trend worth adopting in 2026, and what is one you would avoid?

"It’s all about LED technology and how it continues to rapidly develop as both a traditional visual content format and as it's further applied to intelligent lighting and displays."

"What to avoid? LED Technology being used everywhere, and therefore to excess! AV is a storytelling tool; it’s a communication medium. If you clutter the space with LED "noise", outside of the primary displays, you will lose the messaging. The event space must be approached in a considered manner; it’s not about packing in technology for technology's sake."

Translation, use technology with intent. If it is not supporting the message, there's a good chance it's distracting from it.

Why We Love Working With Select Audio Visual

This is a relationship we genuinely value, because great events are built by aligned teams onsite.

We have worked together for years, what do you value about the way Wine & Dine’m runs service alongside staging, sound and light?

"Simply put, it’s the people and the leadership at Wine & Dine’m that we value the most, by far. Like-minded people who show up each day for the very same reasons as our team. Pride of output, determination to exceed expectations, along with a highly respectful approach to all partners when on-site. You guys are not only the best in the business, but you’re also the best people to have fun on the show with!"

We will take “best people to have fun on the show with” as the highest compliment.

Full Circle Moment: Their Wedding, Through a Service Lens

In November 2023, we had the privilege of catering Select Audio Visual Owners, Dee and Pete’s wedding. We asked what that experience reinforced for them, from the other side of the aisle.

In November 2023, we catered your (Dee & Pete’s) wedding. From your side of the aisle: what did that day teach you about the kind of experience you want guests to feel and has it influenced how you approach shows since?

"While event technology is our vehicle, we really are in the service industry, and just like Wine & Dine’m, good people and great client relationships underpin what we do each day. That day was memorable for a multitude of reasons, understandably. Now, when I look back, the emotion of the day is first and foremost, but a deeper dive reveals a seamless & methodical approach to providing comfort and flawless service to our friends and family. At Select, this is the ultimate outcome that we can provide for all of our event partners; it just doesn’t get any better than that 😊."

That is the heart of it. Comfort. Calm. Flawless delivery - Especially on such an important day. Guests remembering the feeling, not the mechanics.

Planning a Corporate Event in Brisbane?

If you are planning a conference, gala, awards night, brand launch or other corporate event where production needs to be sharp and service needs to run in sync, this is the standard we believe in. Wine & Dine’m and Select Audio Visual both operate with the same goal. Create an environment where the brief is delivered cleanly, guests feel looked after and everything runs like it was always meant to.
