Team Building
There's a moment at almost every corporate event - right after the last keynote, or mid-way through the networking break - where the energy dips. People are on their phones. Conversations stall. The room that was buzzing an hour ago starts to feel like hard work.
That's exactly the problem Banana Life was created to solve.
Founded right here in Brisbane and now operating Australia-wide, Banana Life is a gamified corporate experiences company with over a decade of expertise, hundreds of five-star reviews, and the rare ability to engage groups from 5 to 10,000 people. They're a serious, purpose-driven events partner and they happen to be really, really fun.

Who Is Banana Life?
Banana Life is an experiential event supplier focused on designing interactive moments for corporate audiences — from conferences and product launches to internal staff events and in-office activations. Their offerings are built with one key objective in mind: engage people, not just entertain them.
In a corporate market where attention is often divided and time is precious, Banana Life’s approach is refreshingly intentional. Experiences are designed to:
Encourage participation without pressure
Fit naturally into existing event formats
Support brand messaging and event purpose
Work within real-world constraints such as time, space and logistics
Rather than operating as a standalone activation, Banana Life’s experiences work best when integrated into the wider event environment — particularly alongside hospitality.
What Makes Banana Life Different for Corporate Events?
Unlike suppliers that focus on spectacle or novelty alone, Banana Life designs experiences that are:
Purpose-driven — aligned with business goals, culture or messaging
Corporate-appropriate — engaging without feeling childish or forced
Flexible — suitable for venues, offices, conferences and breakout spaces
This makes them an ideal pairing with Wine & Dine’m Catering. While catering creates the sensory and social foundation of an event, Banana Life’s experiences give guests a reason to connect, participate and stay engaged — turning food breaks into moments of interaction rather than downtime.
Together, the Wine & Dine'm and Banana Life help corporate clients move beyond simply hosting an event, toward creating something memorable, cohesive and genuinely enjoyable.
Q&A: Getting to Know Banana Life
We sat down with Banana Life Director, Andy Balzat and Business Development Exec Vid Newman to let our readers into why Banana Life was created and how it could be the perfect fit for your team's next collaborative event.
What is the story behind Banana Life? Why gamified corporate experiences?
"We saw a gap. Corporate and team events were either too stiff and formal, trying too hard, or even worse, combining awkward trust exercises from the early 2000s.
Nobody was doing gamified experiences at a professional level combining a smart app-based platform with creative design, charismatic hosts and planted actors who genuinely surprise the crowd. So we made it happen. Gamified experiences
The mission has always been simple: unite every work bunch through a gamified world of fun. Brighten up your bunch, as we like to say!"
How would you describe Banana Life’s role in the corporate events space, particularly for clients who may be unfamiliar with experiential suppliers?
"We're the energy behind the event. We take care of everything from curating the game to facilitation so that event organisers can actually enjoy the day they've planned and participate. Our job is to make connections feel effortless and to leave every team feeling like they actually know each other a little better than they did that morning."
What challenges do you commonly see corporate clients facing when it comes to engaging their audiences at events?
"Three big ones, mostly it is disconnection, teams are more fragmented than ever, especially with hybrid work and that makes genuine engagement really hard. Second, the "we've done it all", employees have experienced enough paint and sip and trivia evenings that they're hard to impress. And third, trying to manage it all in-house, which is an uphill battle when experience design isn't your core expertise. That's where bringing in a specialist like us changes everything."
How do you design experiences that feel natural and appropriate for corporate environments, rather than feeling forced or out of place?
"It starts with listening. Before we design anything, every client gets a dedicated Event Producer, personal point of contact from booking through to delivery. That producer sends through our Game Plan focused questionnaire that helps us understand the team's dynamics, their outcome goals and what they're like as a group. From there, we build something that fits their culture from the inside out.
We're not the awkward team building company that walks into the room and makes everyone cringe. Our facilitators know how to read a room and engage every single human in the room. You’ve got to consider everyone, or it’s not worth the investment."
In your experience, what types of corporate events benefit most from interactive or experiential elements?
"Honestly, most of them but a few stand out. Post-strategy day sessions, where people need to decompress and reconnect after hours of thinking. Conference icebreakers, where you need to energise a big room fast. And large-scale events with hundreds of attendees, where our app-based platform lets us run immersive team missions simultaneously across an entire crowd from 10 to 5,000. The energy shift is immediate and remarkable."

How do you ensure your activations align with a company’s brand values, culture and objectives - and match them to their most suited activity?
"Customisation is everything. Every element of a Banana Life experience — the missions, the narrative, the theming, the challenges can all be tailored to reflect a company's values, messaging and culture. Once a client has chosen their activity, their dedicated Event Producer shapes the entire experience around the Game Plan brief. We match the experience to the team, every time because one size fit all doesn’t work. Like any good project, the end product is only as good as the brief, so we ask lots of questions, remain curious, and then we can apply our creativity to the activation."
How have you seen corporate audiences’ expectations shift in recent years, and how has Banana Life adapted its approach as a result?
"Two major shifts. The first is distributed teams. With colleagues spread across states and countries, demand for virtual connection has surged - so we've expanded into a full suite of virtual experiences including the Virtual Amazing Race, the Remote Game, and Employee Appreciation Day activations that bring remote teams together in a way that actually feels meaningful.
The second is purpose. Companies increasingly want to do good while having fun - so we created giving-back experiences like the Give Back Game, Skateworks and Bike Build, where teams build something real for someone in their community. Fun, connection and impact - all in one afternoon."
For organisations planning their first experience-led corporate event, what advice would you give to ensure it delivers genuine value for attendees?
"Start with the outcome, not the activity.
Ask: what do you want people to feel or do differently after this event? Once that's clear, the right experience finds itself. Then bring in specialists, trust the process, and let your leaders model the fun — because when people feel safe to participate, the results are genuinely extraordinary."
What excites you most about working alongside catering partners like Wine & Dine’m to create complete, end‑to‑end event experiences?
"Honestly? When you pair incredible food with incredible experiences, there's really nowhere to go but up! Well-fed guests are the easiest crowd in the world to work with; that's just science ;-)! Full bellies, great energy and a Banana Life team building activation? Guaranteed A+ event.
But beyond that, what makes this partnership special is the shared standard. Wine & Dine'm brings the same obsession with quality and exceptional service that we do. Our clients get two suppliers who genuinely care, working as one team toward the same goal. After years of working together, that trust is built in and the event feels seamless because of it. Together, we don't just cover the bases. We raise the bar."
Our Perspective: Creating Seamless Corporate Event Experiences
From Wine & Dine’m’s perspective, this is exactly why we value working with the Banana Life team. Their experience-led approach aligns seamlessly with how we think about corporate catering — as something that should move with the event, not interrupt it. Our flexible catering services are designed to work around activity schedules, session timings and audience energy.
In the case of collaborating on an event with Banana Life, this can look like grazing platters positioned on team tables to encourage conversation during interactive workshops, plentiful stations available at the ready during breakout sessions or substantial canapé service flowing naturally into post‑conference after parties, following a full day of activity. When catering and experiences are planned together, they don’t compete for attention — they enhance one another, creating a cohesive guest journey that feels effortless, engaging and considered from start to finish.
Together, this shared approach is what allows us to help corporate clients deliver events that feel purposeful, polished and genuinely memorable.
